Taking accurate measurements of clients to ensure a proper fit. Designing and creating custom clothing from scratch, or adapting stock patterns. Marking the fabric with the pattern, and cutting out the pieces. Sewing the garment parts together by hand or machine. Pinning or tacking the garment onto the client or a dummy model, and making any necessary adjustments. Adding trimmings, fastenings, and buttonholes. Pressing the garment using irons or machines to shape it. Fixing damaged or ripped clothes Ironing and steaming finished garments to prepare them for pick-up. Collaborating with clients to ensure their satisfaction with the final production. Maintaining a clean and organized work area. Keeping up-to-date with fashion trends and techniques.
