JOB DESCRIPTION — HARDWOOD WORKER Position Summary The Hardwood Worker is responsible for processing, shaping, assembling, and finishing hardwood materials to produce high-quality furniture and wood products. The role involves hands-on carpentry, material preparation and finishing techniques to meet production and quality standards. Key Responsibilities • Select, measure, cut, and prepare hardwood materials for production. • Operate woodworking hand machinery such as planers, jointers, sanders, routers, and saws. • Assemble parts using joinery techniques (e.g., mortise & tenon, dowels, biscuits, screws, or adhesives). • Perform sanding, staining, oiling, varnishing, and surface finishing processes. • Read and interpret technical drawings, measurements, and production specifications. • Inspect products for quality, accuracy, and structural integrity. • Maintain a clean and safe workshop environment. • Monitor material usage and report shortages or defects. • Repair or restore hardwood components when required. • Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure timely project delivery. Requirements • Proven experience in hardwood carpentry or furniture craftsmanship. • Strong knowledge of woodworking tools, equipment, and finishing techniques. • Ability to read measurements and drawings • Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship. • Physical stamina and ability to lift and move timber or finished products. • Understanding of workshop safety procedures. • Basic math and measurement skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Education & Experience • Technical or vocational training in woodworking is an added advantage. • Minimum 1–3 years woodworking experience (depending on level). Work Conditions • Open Workshop or factory environment. • Use of power tools, woodworking machinery, adhesives, and finishing chemicals. • May require overtime during peak projects
